You think we're gonna make it that easy for you not to read the thread, Sam? :D

Sam, PLEASE don't read the thread.

    I value our friendship.

Much more than I value Phil Collins. :D

I'm not going to read the whole thread, but are we discussing which singers are worth AI NYT when they kick.

Where I live, we were watching the Peanuts Valentines special and they interrupted it for a special bulletin. I thought either we were under attack or the president had been shot. After that build-up it would have seemed overkill for "just a celebrity" to have died.

I understand fulling utilizing the crawl to make this announcement, but breaking into programming seemed excessive to me. I don't know if there is any celebrity who deserves that treatment.

I agree that the Houston death would have been above the fold in the NYT if it happened a few hours earlier or not on a Saturday. It was not on 1A of the local rag for I'm assuming the same reason. They had a teaser and that's it.

    Thanks, IJAG.

"Against All Odds" was a well-done ballad ... among his best non-Genesis contributions ...

Wilson's story is all kinds of sad and all kinds of compelling. In the L.A. Times, I would think he'd be a slam dunk. But anywhere, he'd be worth a substantial story in the section, much more so than, say, Mike Love.

You've "studied" music for 20 years. Do you not know/understand the importance of Brian Wilson?
