Agreed. "Two Hearts" is part of a soundtrack off a film in which he co-starred titled "Buster." But that doesn't take away from your statement. It is a decent piece.

"In The Air Tonight" raised the bar in the early days of videos. Of that, there is no doubt.

When did Phil Collins lose it?

No, I'm not Patrick Bateman. Anything but ... but nice try.

First off, "In The Air Tonight" is off of "Face Value" ... was that not clear in my post? The test was open-book and you still got it wrong. Congratulations.

Fact is, you don't know what you're talking about. I'm not the expert, but you sure as hell don't have a clue as to what you're saying, then you want to dig yourself deeper.

Collins didn't take over Genesis ... the group tried out dozens, if not hundreds, of guys to take the spot vacated by Peter Gabriel. And if you're still convinced the group was Phil and the others were puppets, take a listen to "A Trick of the Tail" and "Wind and Wuthering." I'm sure Tony Banks, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford will agree that it was Phil's band and they were just along for the ride. If anything, they did more of the writing and arranging than Phil did.

    Keep digging deeper ...

He lost his solo touch starting with the "Both Sides" album. Did everything from the vocals and percussion (as always) to the other instrumentation and at least some of the producing. That wasn't the issue ... what made a lot of his non-ballad/more uptempo stuff fun and different from Genesis and many of the other folks was the Phenix Horns (formerly of Earth, Wind and Fire), which weren't on "Both Sides."

Much of the first four albums was very good, even excellent. After that - excepting his work with "Tarzan" - it didn't measure up. Collins wanted to do something different, and given both his success, clout and wealth he had built up, trying something different shouldn't be held against him. But it didn't mean it was very good as a whole.

I'm digging deeper because I liked only four songs Phil Collins wrote in the 1980s?

I liked about one song off each album he and Genesis released. They included the songs I listed.

You are psycho. Like legitimately sound like an unhinged factoid machine.

    Well, like, no, Brian.

If there is one person on this board you cannot say that about, you found him.

I'm sure he's smarter, more successful and a better person than I am. But I still don't like Phil Collins. That can't really be refuted with discography recitation.

When I think about David Byrne and Ian Curtis existing at the same time, Collins and agenesis sound like a Disney version of rock.

You can choose to not like whomever you please, especially me. I'll find a way to go on.

But it doesn't give you license to talk out your rear end.

There must be some misunderstanding here.
