    Smart move...

    Thanks man.

    So what's the latest on Parker? Is he fired yet or what?

    There should be some movement soon. No, he won't be fired.

    He won't be "fired" but his days at the News are as good as done.

    What does that mean? Does he get bounced from columnist to GA? Does he resign?

    Not sure, source just said his days were numbered but in a way other than firing him.

    Depends, I would think. If he's an employee, then he can be assigned to anything in editorial. If he has a contract as a columnist, that's where you might see a suit -- although the Guild head in Detroit is a guy who, if he told you that you were on fire, your first instinct would be to scream SHUT UP!!!

    But hey, if you had a column in the Detroit News, you could be friends with Drippy.

    Rob is going to be just fine. He will be employed. He will still be a journalist. I won't go into specifics but this isn't "throwing shit against the wall."

    Oh no? What about coaches who won't grant access? Coaches who screw you? You mean you are not going to cover that coach anymore or talk to that coach? B.S. By shit on, I mean the stuff coaches and PR staffs pull on a fairly regular basis.

    We're all desperately interested in how Rob Parker is going to land on his feet, or not, when he finds himself out at the Detroit News, or not.

    (Yawn)

    ::)

    A lot of newsmen and newswomen who haven't made themselves look silly already are looking for work.
