Good lord, if we had to know a situation to comment on it, this board would have about four threads on it. ;)

This situation alone should have got him fired...

    And not a bad thought.
Hey, it's great that many people have a view on this situation. I love reading other points of view. But in my opinion and in the opinion of others, the situation has pretty much played itself out.
I think it bothers some people here that Parker is still employed.
I'm not that bothered with it since he said it was a bad joke that misfired and Marinelli pretty much has downplayed it.
And now that he has been fired, was there some validity to what Parker was alluding to afterall?

Did Dantonio mention anything about his own age, and his status as a man?

No. It adds nothing to Parker's case on the point being debated.

    Wow.
    How long ago was that?

So, based on this incident and the one Slappy mentions, the guy has a problem controlling his yap?
Then, yeah, that would do it in my book.

I wonder who his anonymous source was. Definite slip-up especially since Cousins' is very religious and isn't prone to partying.

    What a mess.

But where do you fire him from? He said that over the air, not in his column.

    He represents your paper.
He's now embarassed that paper at least twice by not being able to control his mouth.
I don't think there's a question about the "where." The paper is his place of employment. All my guys knew when they went on radio they were representing the paper.

Through some searching I also found these things on the interwebs about stuff Parker has done.

    1. He claimed MSU Sophomore Paul Davis was a done deal to the NBA and that Coach Izzo had been told. Davis' dad came out and refuted this saying none of that was true. Davis went on to play 4 years at MSU.

    2. Again, another issue with the MSU basketball program. Brandon Cotton, a player who had transferred out of MSU to University of Detroit was given an outright release. Rob Parker claimed that Izzo didn't sign the requisite papers because he was bitter at him leaving and Cotton would not get an extra year of eligibility. The story turned out to be completely false and Cotton played till the end of his eligibility.

Both are from a blog! Say what you will about it not being credible, but the blog goes into detail with the Kirk Cousins situation.

Parker said he had three anonymous sources indicating Cousins was "a big part" of the fight involving MSU players. However, Cousins' stayed at the hotel with his parents who were in town — because the game was a late start — 3:30 p.m. Cousins' dad said they spent the night together, went to church the next morning and then to lunch. He wasn't even at the party.

    So we have two options.

    1. Parker is relying on terrible sources who are either incredibly misinformed or just lying.
    2. He made the stuff up.

Neither one is good. Couple that with the Marinelli presser slip-up and all the other things. Again, a huge mess.

EDIT: I'm reminded of another time when Parker said Mario Manningham got in big trouble and may miss the entire season. He missed one game I think.

Correction, Rob was paid by the station so the paper wasn't his "place of employment."
In short, he has two jobs. So, again, where do you fire him? From the paper or from the TV gig?
