    I don't see people outside of hospitals protesting women getting hysterectomies or their tubes tied, either. Isn't that the more direct comparison there?

    My friend had her tubes tied. She had to take her husband with her to sign off on it with the doctor. They made her wait so she could think about whether or not she ever wanted to have children.

    This comes up a lot and I am sure it varies depending on where it is, but my wife had to go with me to my vasectomy and sign off on it too and I also had to do the think about if we wanted more kids, although we have four so they didn't press hard. I have heard of of plenty of similar stories.
