North Carolina is definitely in play. You've got a former chief justice of the state supreme court, who is also a black woman, on the dem ticket vs. a Trumpist gun store owner as the GOP nominee in a race for an open seat.

Between gun control and abortion, there are sharp delineations between the two. I have to think the votes of a lot of moderate/independent women who might typically break for the Republican will be in play this cycle. Couple that with the opportunity to elect the first black senator from the state serving as a motivating factor for black voters, and we've got ourselves a race.

BTW, the timing of this decision helps one party significantly more. Russia wins. Between the 2 mass murders and the SCOTUS rulings on guns and abortion, that portion of Americans that supports Ukraine, the non republicans, now have their own problems.

That's quality work, but Handmaid outfits for the others would've made the photo.

I almost said NC but a)I don’t know much about the race other than the incumbent isn’t running and b) the 08 election made me think it could be a swing, but every election since has gone red in the major races. So I had it written then deleted.

Again the economy scares me for possible flips but now there’s a rallying issue to flip the bird to the GOP so we’ll see.

BTW if you think Abortion is going to regulated by the States, wait until the republicans have the house senate and presidency. They will make it a federal crime to travel for purpose of evading a State’s abortion restriction. It’ll be Pleasy with armed officer of Oklahoma arresting women in Illinois for abortions in Illinois. Or they will just federal ban abortion.

People ask me why I became a history teacher. Then people like Yabs come along and I don’t have to say a word.
