I heard that the unidentified driver of the vehicle that hit Big Ben caused the accident when she tossed a burrito out of his window that was "delicious but very filling".

    I'm so going to hell...

How did Boom pull off 'juxtaposing'?

I also have no sympathy for someone who doesn't wear a helmet. I'm not going to wring my hands either.
I'm also not going to crack jokes, though I understand some people will. It's an Irish thing, as boom noted, and some PMs have also helped explain things.

    Carry on.

I heard about this a little late, saw it on the ticker while I was watching the soccer game.

How dumb can you be when you don't wear a helmet? Seriously. Aren't you asking for something like this when you don't wear a helmet?!

I hope he recovers so he can be a spokesman for helmet safety.

You may have the legal right not to wear a helmet, but you don't have the moral right to put your death a/o serious injury on the driver of any vehicle that you collide with, no matter who is at fault.

I think he is an idiot for not wearing a helment. But there is nothing funny about this. He also happens to be one of the nicest guys you will meet in pro sports. You can argue that he was immature for not wearing a helmet, or even riding a bike in the first place, but if you spend any amount of time with him, you'll realize that even when he was 22, and a rookie, he had a way about him that makes him seem mature beyond his years. He has also remained very grounded and is one of the least full of himself guys you will find in the NFL. He manages to pull that off while still maintaining a genuine confidence that rubs off on the people around him. Not to go all brown bunny, because I don't feel this way about many NFL players, but he is one of the good guys in sports. Finding humor or joy in this is wrong.

I know a guy who was blinded in a horrific motorcyle accident.

He was wearing a helmet. His lawyer was suing the helmet manufacturer claiming it should not have shattered and injured his eyes.

They guy says he hates to do it because he knows the helmet saved his life but he needs the money to live on.

Another motorcyle moment: One time I was filling my car with gas at a station on a busy road at dusk. Heard a screech and a crash and looked over and saw a guy in motorcyle gear flppping and spinning down the road. He wound up in a ditch.

Lucky for him he was wearing leather and a helmet. Ambulance drivers thought he would be OK.

I see folks in shorts and T-shirts and no helmets riding and I just shake my head.

Good point. Last year I drove past that aftermath of a horrible motorcycle accident that killed the rider (again no helmet). To this day I think about it anytime I see a motorcycle in traffic, I can't imagine what the driver involved feels.

Tell you what, that woman driver had better get the fuck outta Dodge. Hell, I wouldn't even risk driving another Chrysler through Pittsburgh right now.

You know, I was pretty pissed when Carson Palmer was knocked out of the playoffs last year, but I 10-times as sad right now and I hate the Steelers.

Carson Palmer will return to the field. I hope Ben can, too.
