I haven't seen this one, maybe I missed it.

I mean it’s fucking Waylon, so what else does one need, but I think the General Lee removed the entire show from the zeitgeist.

The full version still gets some airplay on country radio. Makes me smile every time.

In 1974, MTM produced a short-lived (eight-episode) series called "The Texas Wheelers" starring Jack Elam, Gary Busey and Mark Hamill. How could a series like that lose? It was programmed opposite "The Rockford Files."
    Here's the theme song:

“Illegal Smile,” by the one and only John Prine.

I never saw it and never knew this series existed. Our ABC affiliate at the time had a weaker OTA signal and we lived behind a big-ass mountain that blocked it.

The stray kitten was a nice touch for replacing the usual MTM logo, though.

There are a couple episodes on YouTube. I just watched about five minutes of one show called "The Rebel" and conclude that the series deserved to die.

As a longtime Ian Hunter fan I appreciated this one.

This thread is giving me a close to terminal case of earworms. Yesterday I couldn't get the theme from "Car 54, Where Are You?" out of my head. And it's getting worse. This morning it's that old '50s hit "Alley Oop" by the Hollywood Argyles.

Same here, with this last verse:

    I'm a good old boy
You know my mama loves me
    But she don't understand
They keep a-showing my hands and not my face on TV

    Another fun fact:
Simon & Simon had a crossover episode with Magnum, P.I. (the original), which also had a crossover episode with Murder, She Wrote. Therefore, all three exist in the same universe.

As I recall, Magnum and the Simon boys didn’t take to each other.
