Agree 100%. Only Doors song I have any time for is "Roadhouse Blues". The rest hasn't aged well, dominated by Ray Manzarek's annoying fucking organ and lyrics that would have been laughed out of a sophomore English Lit class.

Not a Doors fan in the sense that I have intentionally listened in years, but started listening maybe a year or two before Morrison died when I was like 9 or 10. What was not to like at that age? And really, while I have deliberately tried to acquire sophistication in a bunch of other ways, I hope I always listen to rock music like a zit-poppin' 12-year-old boy. I've usually thought the detractors were trying to show how cool they are.

Holy crap, I've always thought 'Black Betty' was by Mountain.

  7. The song Angie was really about Mick Jagger's one night stand with a manatee.

The story is much less known than Jagger's affair with David Bowie but much more emotionally scarring.

The main difference between the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin is the Stones did a lot of their work with a sly grin.

    Zeppelin? Ponderous, man. Fuckin' ponderous.

That's a line from a Moldy Peaches song:

I'm just an ass in the crack of humanity.
    I'm just a huge manatee,
    A huge manatee.
