    Pretty good analysis, Bubbler.

For me, I think Led Zeppelin's debut album is their best, and by a wide margin. I'd give it the nod over Beggar's Banquet. On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of LZII, and Let It Bleed is a great record, even though I don't particularly like "You Can't Always Get What You Want."

Where the Stones beat LZ is in '70 and '71. I happen to like LZIII and I think it's a very underrated record, but it's not in the same class with Sticky Fingers, and I give Exile a pretty clear-cut edge over LZ4, which has been played into the ground over the years.

FWIW, Houses of the Holy beats the crap out of Goat's Head Soup, but neither record is up to the standards of earlier albums.

For the record, the Kinks were better than either band.

I'm a huge Led Z fan, and 'Houses of the Holy' is my favorite record.
Not really on topic. Just tossing it out there.

Not sure I can say that, but The Kinks body of work stands the test of time.

Zeppelin was the only "classic rock" band I could never get into. The Kinks are great, but not better than the Stones. I was much more into the Who.

Seriously - with a 7 minute rendition of "No Quarter"

'No quarter' and 'Rain song' are both long. I like both, but both could be shorter.
But it's really the others that make it my Led Z favorite.
'The Crunge' is my favorite Led Z song, 'the Ocean,' The Song Remains the Same' and 'over the Hills and Far Away' are in my Led Z top 10.

I actually like "Dance, Part I" a great deal, although that might be an unpopular opinion here. As far as Stones disco, I actually like it better than "Miss You." For some reason, I like how they kind of grittied up disco a little bit. It's interesting, f nothing else.

I kind of dispute the seemingly accepted knowledge that the Stones haven't had any good songs in the last one/two/three decades, whatever time span is being tossed out there. I listened to "VooDoo Lounge" today, and it's got a lot of strong songs on it, beginning with "Love Is Strong," and continuing right on to "Through and Through," which is actually a classic Keith song. I recall it being used over credits in "The Sopranos" at one point. "Saint of Me" was a good latter-day track, as were some of the songs on "Bigger Bang." I mean, they aren't going to put out "Exile on Main Street" again, but they're professional musicians, and still one of the better collections of professional (rock) musicians in the world. I'd hesitate to be overly dismissive of their late period catalog.
