and McCain didn't win Panama either
I always loved to hit birthers with that little fact
"Oh I'd never vote for anyone born outside the US."
"Who'd you vote for in '08 then?"
    "McCain."
    "The Panamanian?"

  2. So you agree that Obama was born in Kenya?

I agree that one of the major party candidates in 2008 was born outside the US.

and not the one birthers got their panties in a bunch over.
That being said, my reading of the constitution is that in order to be eligible for the presidency you have to be a citizen on the day you were born, and John McCain was, so where he was born wasn't relevent.
Also humorous to me, the folks who want to change ballot access laws to say both of your parents have to have been born in the US in order for you to be on the ballot, which if it were constitutional would be a big problem for. . . Mitt Romney, whose dad was born in Mexico

You sound Canadian. They keep trying to slip into these discussion to talk about our politics.

This and FiveThirtyEight (which is moving slowly on the general) are great resources.

Obama only has to win 43 of the 141 toss-up electoral votes to get to 270. Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina alone would get him there. Or Florida and Pennsylvania alone.

Mittens, on the other hand, has to win 100 of these electoral votes to win, and he'll have to play defense in Georgia and South Carolina where a combination of energized African-Americans and his lingering "Mormon problem" with evangelical whites is making these "lean" states. He has his work cut out for him.

A lot can happen, but I would place a sizeable wager against Obama winning a southern state he lost by 9 points last time.

Obama probably won't win Georgia or Arizona.

But he's gonna make Mitt play defense there.

He won NY and 48 other states for his second term, dropping Mass.

    And, thank you West Wing.

It took me awhile to wrap my head around the fact that two Republicans in the last 40 years have won 49 states. Vinick would have been No. 3 if it weren't for that damn nuclear meltdown.

If you seriously think Romney has to play defense in South Carolina, then the credibility of your analysis will trade at a SEVERE discount.

Based on what I've heard in past few days it seems like The Romney campaign is acting like this is the first time Obama has run for President. I did not realize that Mitt has so much international experience.

I'm just waiting for Romney's camp to point out significant differences between the foreign policy put forth by Bush and Obama, and how Romney would be different.
