  1. Today marks the 3-year anniversary since the last budget passed by the Democratic controlled Senate.

Even during the Civil War the Senate still managed to pass a budget.

It helped to have a 3:1 majority in the Senate and 4:1 majority in the House.

...and no [unConstitutional] need to have 60 votes for everything.

They should just call their biggest expense "off-budget," that will solve everything

Obama's 2012 budget was rejected 97-0 by the Senate. I don't think getting to 60 votes was quite the problem.

I don't think the push is, as you phrase it, college educations for all.

It's about making college reasonably affordable for any person with the aptitude and desire for college. Doesn't that benefit the country, as a whole?

I agree that there are a lot of helicopter parents out there — though I wouldn't say most 18-30-year-olds are products of this. As it pertains to health care, I think younger people tend to see it as a right instead of a commodity. And it's not just the spoiled kids.

That's a fantastic goal. But the current methods seem to be having the opposite effect.

College presidents don't make the big bucks by keeping tuition low and standards high.

I don't think this idea of getting your parents to lend you 20 grand for every pie-in-the-sky business idea you have is such a good one. Especially if they start to wind down Social Security and Medicare. The parents are going to need that money to pay for their skyrocketing health care and house payments.

What this country needs: more college-educated idiots.
