FWIW, Carter's polling lead through much of 1980 was due to the large (10-20 percent) total the polls showed John Anderson getting. When his support evaporated towards the end, Reagan was the inevitable beneficiary, and took the lead. But there was ALWAYS an anti-incumbent majority, just as there was in 1992. Now, it's more 50-50, with maybe Obama having a very slight lead.

 

Oh, we remember. The GOP True Believers all had him DOA.

 

Ha. Saw this story on the way in this morning. It's a sure-fire good recipe for college graduates who want to start a business:

--Borrow $10 million from dad;
--Hit up his campaign donors for another $236 million;
--Keep costs down by using the same financial folks as dad's political campaign, and
--Create dozens of lucrative jobs for consultants.
