“No one we went to as an investor said, ‘Oh, your dad is Mitt Romney, I’m going to give you $10 million,” Tagg Romney said, noting that his father’s political future was uncertain when the firm began. He added, “Our relationships with people got us in the door, but that did not get us investors.”

God, that's beautiful. Such an American hard-working success story.

Quoting Donald Rumsfeld is not a good way to win U.S. political arguments -- not among the sane, anyway.

  3. Michael - it makes me laugh knowing that just by quoting the great man that I can spike your blood pressure by 5 points.

A good story about why it's so wrong to tout your military success -- unless you're a Republican. Includes many key quotes from the 2004 campaign that called out Kerry for allegedly not having the stones to do the stuff that Bush did.

Chris, if the Romney campaign was in touch with you, they'd BEG you not to cite former Bush adminstration officials in support of anything. Romney=Bush is an explicit theme of their opponent's campaign, and it wasn't chosen on a whim.

  6. Michael - we both know that Obama's only hope at re-election is to pretend he's still running against Bush because there's no way he can run on his own record. Obamacare? The Stimulus? Doubling the price of gas at the pump?

Pretending to be running against Bush or bragging about killing bin Laden is all he's got.

In general, I'm not a huge fan of funds that invest in other funds. Not a lot of rocket science necessary.

But, I'm curious, how has the fund done? Have they made money for their investors?

Who was president in July 2008, when gas was $4 a gallon?

I would have pegged you as a fan of Cofer Black.

    I'm concerned.

This bit of info concerns one Tea Partier I know who apparently has no knowledge of how foreign policy works in the real world.
