    This.

    Only knew him as spnited.

He made this forum a far better place with each of his posts.

    Prayers with Ron's family.

I only knew Ron Drogo as spnited, here.

    I'll miss him.

There's an empty chair at the SportsJournalists.com table.

He's enjoying his Marlboro and a bowl of lobster bisque from The Perfect Pint, calling all of us dickheads.

Just caught up (I posted earlier). Never knew him other than here, though he sent me a very gracious note when the Rocky went 6 feet under (two years ago this week), despite living in flyover country (albeit God's country).

When he wrote about journalism, sports journalism and newspapering, you took notice. Read it twice. And let the experience/wisdom sink in a bit more.

We need to sticky this thread. RIP, Ron/spnited. SJ has lost a bit of its soul. May you always be signed in.

When I think of spnited on this board, I think of you, ijag. I loved the unlikeliness of your friendship, the crabby grizzled vet and the young woman just starting out. It was so obvious that you completely delighted and entertained him...always struck me as a very sweet and loving friendship.

To you, and BYH and shockey and casty and all the others who knew and loved the man, my deepest condolences.

I didn't know the man and had never been told by any SJ "insiders" who he actually was.
But he indeed brought his A-game to the board with nearly all the posts I ever saw.
He scolded me once that "Jeremy Shockey was in no uncertain terms in it totally for Jeremy Shockey!"
I hope Shock's grown during his time in New Orleans and, if so, that spnited was able to recognize it.
    If not, so be it.

    RIP, spnited

I had the same feeling here when I saw the first couple of posts before his handle was inserted.

Never met him, never knew who he was before today, but I enjoyed his SJ persona.

    RIP

He was a year younger than I am.

We never worked together but came out of the same northern New Jersey sporstwriting tree; that earned me entree into his circle and for that I was always grateful. So many tributes...as a friend said the other day, don't you wish we did this for people when they are alive? I miss the days when we were all younger and smarter, and now I really miss my friend Ron.

And as MITN, EStreetJoe and Jerseygirl surely know, Ron was a big-time Springsteen fan.

This was part of one of just a few interactions I had with him on the site. I didn't know who he was, but thought I'd probably cross paths at least once in the near future. I'll be picking up some freelance work in his neck of the woods and it's a shame I won't get to meet him in person.

Spnited was one of the rare breeds for message board posters. He came off like a jerk to newbies and regulars alike, but he was genuine in his posts. He never came off like he was too good for the SPJ.com joint.

    RIP, spnited.
