If you ever want to look into why your beloved conservatism got hijacked by a sociopathic bunco artist, I suggest starting here.

I dunno. I kind of think Quant has a point. There's LESS labor required in, oh, Norway or France or other European welfare states because they mandate more leisure time. People have made that trade or anyway become accustomed to it. If you offered French workers (or Norwegian workers) a big raise in return for longer hours, they'd tell you to piss off. America's corporate oligopoly system based on the myth of the omnipotent white man conquering the wilderness is far from the only model of a capitalist economy.

There was a time when unemployment was damn near 0%. Was that a "good" economy or a "bad" one?

What time was unemployment damn near zero? Oh, right, World War 2. Hard and possibly not ideal to duplicate.

If there are enough jobs to go around that's actually bad for the golden calf called Free Market. But if the people who can't find steady work ask the government for help they're filthy liberal takers too stupid to understand they're ruining the country. I don't see what's left for us great unwashed to do, except die off so you'll run into less traffic when towing your boat to the lake.

You need to work on your chip-on-the-shoulder set ... and between practice sessions, read up on what's called the "Lump of Labor Fallacy."

I'll study on that, you can look up a poem called "The Exodus" by Dave Barnhart and we'll meet back here for book club. Deal?

We don't need no critical thinkin' 'round here. That's what Slate and HuffPo are for.

Just read it. Puh-fucking-leaze. Neither you nor Dave Barnhart have the first clue about me or people who think and believe as I do. You don't even understand the basic ideas underpinning that which you stand athwart, yet you've convinced yourself that your ignorant caricature of it is evidence of your moral superiority. Get the fuck over yourself and go learn something.

You forgot to brag about all the money you make and how that makes you a better person than me and most of this board too. Go ahead. That's your signature move isn't it?
