Is a transcript of the press conference available? There is plenty of bandwagon jumping going on, and I for one would like to see what was said before making up my mind.

While I would be surprised if the KC reporters crossed any line (and would really have had to been out of bounds for me to think the Royals management's response was appropriate), it seems to me we should at least find out for certain what they asked and how they asked it. There's a right way and a wrong way to do things, even in our field.

I'm not disagreeing. I just want to know what was asked that the Royals found to be so out of bounds. I'm always seen as my job to first ask questions and then form opinions. I'm not going to change that just because a member of the media is involved.

I've been around members of our profession who failed to bathe often enough that they should have had theirr credentials revoked.

To me, we're dealing with two questions here: first, should this have been done? I think not. They're being pissy, and they have no one to blame but themselves for the sorry state of their franchise. The media is an easy target.
Second, did the Royals have the right? Absolutely. As someone mentioned, it says so on the back of the credential. They really don't have to give a reason for pulling the passes.

Oh, I could have kicked his ass. I'm in shape and the guy has had one or a hundred too many hot dogs. Or I could have sent my 6-foot-6 brother or my 6-foot-5 husband or my 6-foot-3 father (or all three) after him.
But that really wasn't the point. ;D

I honestly don't know. Maybe first you could tell me what "tracscibe" means?

I was in Dallas at the Finals...and I'm having to follow this story over the Internet and cell phone.... I consider this whole affair an indictment on how I run my corners. I'd like to think this wouldn't have happened had I been home and able to meanmug a couple of my working boys (David and Dan Glass)...But that's no excuse.

Here's an example of Rhonda Moss' questions to Glass. This is cut and pasted from someone else. Again, I was in Dallas and didn't hear for myself. But this is consistent with what Rhonda Moss and Bob Fescoe told me was asked.

One question asked, "you said sweeping changes needed to be made, obviously the GM position was a change... so why did you leave Allard Baird twisting instead of hiring an interim GM?"

    Good question.

Another question by Rhonda... "Dan, How has your role changed with the hiring on Dayton Moore?"

The other question "In what ways did you support Allard as GM?"

reasonable questions... they should have had a Press conference after Baird was shitcanned.

    Man, the Glasses suck asses.

Rhonda Moss is good at annoying people. She continually ask people hard questions the fans want answered. It's her shtick and she's good at it. As a clubhouse interviewer, she's exactly what any radio station would want. Pretty much the same goes for Fescoe. Yes, you can call them both "blowh**ds" but that's fine. They show up to every event and practice. They work hard.

KCSP (Moss' station) is the station I quit last March. I'm not surprised the idiots on air talked about Roethlisberger for an hour rather than one of their own reporters being embroiled in a controversy that is being picked up by the national media. (Rhonda was on the Stephen A. Smith show yesterday and an LA Times story mentioned it.) KCSP is a horrible, horrible radio station with quite possibly the worst instincts in the entertainment industry.

As for why I didn't call for action? Because I'm in Dallas and Miami covering the NBA Finals. I'm praying the Glasses don't back down before the end of the Finals. I can use them to send a message to everybody else that I don't allow this kind of behavior on my corners. But right now I'm embarrassed. This would be a good time for those Herm Edwards-hating New Yorkers to come around and rip me. I'd have no defense.

But what the Royals did was wrong, but don't let anyone try to convince you that Bob Fescoe is a good journalist. He asks tough questions ... so what? A lot of us do. He's also a poor, know-it-all "reporter" who throws rumors around like birdseed while he's on the air. When one of them proves to be true - and that rarely happens - he champions himself as some big news breaker. But when the other 621 end up being false, you never hear a peep from him about how he was wrong. Then again, it's just typical radio journalism (i.e. irresponsible). As for Moss, she does a good job.

    "meanmug"?

Ooh, Glass reported to the Waltons for years and now cowers before Whitlock? I'm dumbfounded.

  12. Re: Royals revoke credentials

this is all true...but the guy is a "radio journalist." i don't hold him to a print standard or even really a professional standard. Why get all caught up in how Fescoe views himself?
