    Harold Ford lost because a) Bob Corker ran scurrilous TV ds, and b) Ford actually believed those Beltway fans of his that making nicey-nice with the Christian crazoids is the way to win elections.

    On this issue, the only issue, there is no flyover country. There is the country, which is against it by formidable margins, and the people in the executive branch, whom the country distrust by an even greater margin.
