Lawyers representing Toronto-based player agent Don Meehan have issued ''notices of libel'' against Detroit Red Wing player Chris Chelios and an unspecified number of media outlets.

''We have sent out notices alleging libel to Mr. Chelios and various media,'' said Meehan's lawyer, Graham Smith of Goodman's law firm in Toronto.

Smith declined to specifically name the media outlets which have been served with the notices, but it's believed the Toronto Star is one of them.

Flames assign McElhinney to Quad Cities and call up Keetley. Don't know why. It wasn't McElhinney that lost that game last night.

If Peter Forsberg decides to play again in the NHL, it will only be for a Stanley Cup contender. Which means the Ottawa Senators might be in line for another Swedish scorer.

A pair of NHL sources told the Toronto Sun that Ottawa and Colorado Avalanche are the only two teams on Forsberg's list. A decision from the star is expected by the middle of November.

Forsberg has a history in Colorado, winning Cups as a member of the Avalanche in both 1995/96 and 2000/01.

I don't understand why Versus is debating whether or not Shanahan, Modano, JR and Recchi will be Hall-of-Famers. All four guys are clearly going to be in the Hall.

You know what would be great? If the Rangers got bodies in front of Marc-Andre Fleury.

Less than twenty minutes until Ryan Smyth plays in Edmonton for the first time as something other than an Oiler.

If you said the Rangers would only allow two goals in two games, you'd think they would have won both games, yes?

Well, you'd be wrong. Rangers have suffered consecutive 1-0 losses.

So, allow me to quote from Armchair_QB: I hate this fucking team.

If you're Kevin Lowe, how many bodyguards do you employ?

There aren't enough bodyguards in to protect him from that fanbase. He wasn't willing to ante up for a guy who lost teeth and blood for the franchise.

Leafs tie it up with 9 seconds left then lose in a shootout to the Thrashers.
