Maybe it's me but I think Keenan is bleaching his mustache. Normally, it's black but this year it looks almost blond.

Awesome. I'm watching Avs-Flames and the Calgary broadcast just had a shot of some woman sporting a Robert Reichel sweater.

Avs win 3-2 in OT. Smyth pots the winner off of a feed from Sakic.

Looked like it was tonight ... I meant to say 'replay' not 'reply.' But I was/am drunk posting.

Smyth does the his old team a favour. I don't even care about points at this point. Anytime the FLames lose, particularly in gut wrenching, blow a lead style, it's a good thing - sorry Flash

  9. Flash - If you're talking about the Zdeno Chara vs David Koci fight, I'm not about to give Z credit for fighting for the first time as a Bruin. Koci already had the cut and Chara just reopened it. I'm surprised Koci is in the NHL after watching him in Pittsburgh's training camp over the last few years and play in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). To say he had major problems skating would be kind.

No worries, Beef. You know I have very low expectations for this season, right?

I've missed every replay opportunity. Now it just doesn't sound worth it. Oh well ...

This could go over in journalism, I guess because it's more of a business story than a hockey story.

Anyway, here's the front page of today's Toronto Star:

The story by Rick Westhead is terrific. Westhead (in my opinion) is one of the real up and commers in the field of the business of sports.

Hours after Mats Sundin collected his 500th NHL goal last season, the nylon mesh net that corralled the landmark puck was removed from the Air Canada Centre and shipped to a factory where workers cut it into 2,000 pieces.

The small bits of net were mounted on a board next to a photo of Sundin and slipped into a matted frame. In an instant, otherwise worthless scraps of nylon had been transformed into valuable sports memorabilia. One Toronto sports marketing executive estimates the Maple Leafs' parent company, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, generated $40,000 from the promotion.

Profit margins are at an ungodly 22%

And for all their money, not a Cup in 40 years.

How does Tim Peel have a job? He made a terrible call in the Canes-Habs game Friday night.

Carolina's Craig Adams has a goal taken away because a fight broke out near the goal. This even though Peel pointed at the net to signal that there was a goal. Now if fighting majors were called, you could defend this. But two roughing penalties were called instead. Why the hell does a roughing penalty that occurs seconds before Adams sent the puck into net nullify a goal?

That call was almost as bad as the pitiful Canes PK in the game.
