Jason Williams scores a goal with less than 30 seconds remaining to give the Hawks a 5-4 win. Kane with two more points. Geez, I have to see these young kids live. Alas, St. Louis is the closest hockey town -- seven hours away.

'“These (comments) could come back to haunt me and I don’t normally throw these out there, but I’m not all that worried about the injuries on the back end,” MacTavish said.
“From what I’ve seen, with (who) we have healthy, we’re going to be able to overcome it." Oilers head coach on their ailing blueline.

In other words, there isn't all that big of a drop off from who we have injured and who we are calling up from the AHL. Take that any way you want. Me, I'm taking the not so positive route.

The Lightning are now a franchise worst 0-5 on the road to open the season.

There was no effort out on the ice tonight, the Devils flat-out killed them 6-1, four goals in the third.

Tortorella lost his shit after the Rangers game on Monday. God knows what he'll do if they lose to the Islanders tomorrow.

Anyone who's played hockey knows this one: the dreaded bag skate.

Well, Maurice put the Leafs through one yesterday.

On a day like today where it's a very physically demanding day for the players, there's not a lot of talking," he said. "That's not an easy day for the fittest of athletes so you don't try to do four or five things all at the same time.

"Today was to get our legs burning and get a conditioning skate in."

The second-year coach has preached conditioning since taking over the Leafs job but this seemed to be taking that message to another level.

I wonder how many guys puked.

    Fox Sports here.

Jimmy Howard may even get the start. Osgood has started the first two on the Canadian trip. Hasek supposedly might not be available until the Nashville game on Tuesday.

Yahoo.com has two stories up right now. One is a feature on Detroit and its struggle to maintain its Hockeytown, USA image. The other seeks to answer the question: If Detroit isn't Hockeytown, USA, then where is it? The writer says the Minnesota Wild should be a contender. What do you think?
