The Carolina Hurricanes can and proved it earlier this season.

The Rangers fanboy in me wants Phaneuf and Ovechkin on Broadway.

The other problem is that the Penguins just aren't physical enough. Went to the game Monday night and was astounded at the lack of contact. Nobody really wants to go into the corners outside of the fourth line, which Monday night was Georges Laraque-Jarko Ruutu-Maxime Talbot.

That, and while Georges Laraque has some solid skill, there's no reason to count on him to attempt to produce offense - as evidenced by New Jersey's game-winning goal.

Also, how badly is the locker room divided?

The Devils scored the first goal in the Prudential Center tonight. The Rangers have scored the next four and are leading in the third. Rookie Marc Staal just potted his first NHL goal.

This just in: Vinny Lecavalier is sick.

Hat trick, including one shorthanded, five points, +5 rating tonight in a 6-1 Lightning win against the Hurricanes.

Say hello to your new NHL points leader.

That was the worst Canes performance of the season for the last two periods. Carolina actually carried the play in the first period, but didn't have anything to show for it in a 0-0 game. Then the second period Vinny slapped the Hurricanes silly. Not John Grahame's best hour, which I'm sure delights his former tormentor John Tortorella.

Best player in the NHL is Lecavalier.

This is where the NHL is completely fucked up. Vincent Lecavalier is probably the best player in the league or on the short list of the league's best. Yet the public at large has no idea who he is and how great of a player he is.

I understand the league is banking on Crosby and Ovechkin to carry the league into the 21st Century but promote other players as well.

Sharks win the shootout 2-0. What's up with Turco on shootouts? Before the play starts he looks to the side much like a baseball pitcher when he's in the stretch. Weird.
