LaBarbara was a fucking stud in the AHL last season. He going to split time with Bernier this year, I suppose? With Cloutier starting in the minors, I'm guessing, and young Jonathan Quick seeing some time as well.

Another player to watch from the Kings is John Zeiler. Gritty style, hits like a mack truck, can occasionally make something out of nothing on offense. He's a keeper.

Hoping to see O'Sullivan stay up with the big club because when he's on, he's an absolutely amazing goalscorer. Could certainly use work on his overall game, especially consistency, and I think he's currently stuck in that dreaded undefined area between not ready for the NHL and too good for the AHL. But he's overcome quite a bit in his personal life and is worth rooting for.

Harry Neale is going to join Rick Jeanneret in the Sabres broadcast booth. That should be quite ad duo.

Neale will continue to do HNIC broadcasts but he's leaving Leafs Pimp Network TV and will be replaced by the insufferably boring Greg Millen.

Neale's wit is as dry as sandpaper.

When Toskala stopped the first shot of the game against Detroit, his comment was something along the lines of "The Leafs bench just gave him a standing ovation"

    Toskala's analogy ::)

Did I hear right that Emery will not start in the first game of the regular season against the Leafs?

Carey Price has earned a spot with the Habs ... good to see Chipchura stick, too.

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=219631&hubname=

Carey Price will start the 2007-08 hockey season as a full-time member of the Montreal Canadiens.

The team made its final cuts for its 23-man roster on Monday, sending down defenceman Ryan O'Byrne, forward Maxim Lapierre and goaltender Jaroslav Halak to Hamilton of the American Hockey League.

The moves also mean that centres Mikhail Grabovski and Kyle Chipchura will remain with the NHL club.

Grabovski is penciled in as the team's second-line centre. The 23-year-old played three games for Montreal last season without registering a point and spent most of the season with the Bulldogs.

Price, who was widely expected to continue his development in Hamilton, will take the backup spot behind starter Cristobal Huet. The 20-year-old backstopped Canada to its third straight gold medal at the 2007 World Junior Hockey Championship and was named tournament MVP. Price also joined the Habs' AHL affiliate in Hamilton in the spring and led the Bulldogs to their first-ever Calder Cup, taking Most Valuable Player honours again.

    Emery will miss season-opener ...

This is not the start Ray Emery likely had in mind.

The Senators goalie will not start in Wednesday's season opener vs. the rival Toronto Maple Leafs as he recovers from offseason wrist surgery. Martin Gerber will make the start for Ottawa.

"I had a date in my mind I wanted to play," Emery told the Ottawa Sun. "I thought I would be able to get a couple of games in before the start of the season, but I felt it was best, and the coaches felt it was best, that I make sure I'm 100 percent before I get in there. I'm just going to need some time to make it stronger."

If the Habs struggle out of the gate, I can see them trading Huet for a scoring forward, calling up Halak and making Price the No. 1 goaltender.
