So the Sens have dumped their gutless reputation. Hmmm ... still, I'm not too worried, not because I don't respect Ottawa's weapons because I still feel the Whalercanes can counter with weapons and plenty of speed.

Still, the Wings mailing one in? A little surprised ...

Canes look like they mailed this one in ... McLeod and Svatos answer and it's suddenly it's 4-4 with six minutes left in regulation. Svatos again for a come-from-behind win for the Avs.

    Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy ...

Old-ass Mark Recchi scores the only goal of the shootout. Fucking pathetic. Pens drop a point to NJ, a shootout winner over the Sabres.

Alfie scores with a couple of minutes left to go after the Wings tied it 2-2.

Not a great game but if these two teams make it to the Final, it'll probably be a seven gamer.

That said, I'd still put my money on the Ducks to go all the way in the West.

Scotty Bowman, in a HNIC interview prior to the game, thinks the Ducks' grit trumps the Wings' skill.

Don Cherry was all over that. Lambasted the Pens for dumping Recchi.

Pens had no choice as Recchi had no respect for Crosby, Malkin, Staal and the young core of the team. If I heard that correctly, Pittsburgh did the right thing.

Sounds like a case of Cherry shooting from the lip.

Should have never had to dump Recchi -- because they never should have brought him back to begin with.

  8. Some folks in the Pittsburgh organization have plenty of negative things to say about Mark Recchi meaning Don Cherry has no connections with those here because it was plainly obvious to most why "drifter" wore out his welcome.

Ray Shero had no interest trading Recchi because he felt the veteran winger would be more valuable later in the season and expected the vet to accept his early season role on the 3rd/4th line and occasional scratch. Once Recchi complained, had his agent go public, and then ripped into Therrien, it left Shero no room to wiggle because he will support a head coach versus a guy on the brink of retirement.

The Penguins were not getting the effort the Thrashers have received this season.

This made me laugh. Maybe it's because I'm so damn tired. But it was a snort laugh, too.

  10. flash - in case you didn't hear, Crusher's grandfather passed away so EC is back home.

Toronto with another 2 goal lead collapse, this time in San Jose.

Heatley likely out 4-6 weeks with a shoulder, what is Murray going to do if Sens start to lose momentum.

Aw crap, I didn't know. I'll email and let him know I'm thinking about him. Thank you.

Brad Richards scored twice for the Lightning last night as they managed to do what Carolina failed to and hold a lead.

They were Richards' forst goals in 12 games, and the guy is obviously struggling. But does anyone else think he's in Tortorella's doghouse? I mean, for the most part five-on-five last night he was centering a line with Andre Roy and Kyle Wanvig. What's up with that?
