Doesn't sound like it. It's still swollen, so doctors are going to re-examine it on Tuesday. They're still saying high ankle sprain right now.

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said he's going to be re-evaluated tomorrow.

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_548425.html Listening to Saturday's HNIC broadcast, Crosby's ankle was was still swelling up when he went to see the Pens' trainers earlier in the day.

'Still swelling' is not necessarily a good sign.

Sutter spotted in Montreal last night ... pouring fuel on the fire for a Tanguay trade ...

Hope we don't find out it's broken.

Might heal quicker if it is, if he has torn all his ligaments he is going to wish that it was broken

I've been wondering about that since the moment he went into the boards.

That's a good point. Look at Jason Kendall back in 2000. All the stories at the time said he'd have done better had he broken his ankle instead of dislocating it and tearing and pulling all the ligaments.

Fuck, you don't have to tell me ... 13 years after torn ligaments in the ankle and it's still weaker than it should be.

Pittsburgh team doctors are concerned this could be more than the run of the mill high ankle sprain due to the amount of swelling and time it has taken for them to take a look at it.

The Penguins were extremely happy and positive in their comments about Malkin's performance against Montreal but there are questions about Jordan Staal's significant dropoff on the score sheet. Staal's summer of fun with his brother and friends is going to come into question if he's unable to pick up his play while Crosby is out.

Staal can be a third line center shadowing the top line players and skate on the top penalty-killing unit but that may not be enough for some in Pittsburgh having drafted him second overall. The pressure to be great after Malkin and Crosby might be more than this kid can handle.

It is going to be a key test at this stage of his development in the NHL.
