Bingo. You'd be foolish to go anywhere near them without that stipulation.

Anyone catch the quote from Peddie this morning where he said Fletcher would have autonomy over the hockey club, "just like all our previous general managers"? I wonder how many people covering the presser gagged or laughed just a little.

Couple of pieces of news of note. Malkin has been added to the East roster, as have others with the spate of injury/personal absences that have come about in the last week.

I think he should have been on there from the off, but at least he'll be there now.

Ilya Bryzgalov has a new 3-year deal from the Coyotes. I think $4.25 mil a year is probably fair.

Just curious if anybody on this board plans on actually watching the all star game?
If home, I will maybe watch bits and pieces unless Bob Ross is doing another painting then I will watch none.

I will be, I think it's fun enough even though the 'hockey' is pretty practice skate-ish. As with last night's Caps-Pens game, it may turn into a 'can you top this' festival when it comes to circus passes and shots/goals.

Last nights game was great but it had somthing the all star game won't, passion and contact.
To each is own, the game just does nothing for me.

Except for baseball, all-star games are a joke.

Hockey's nothing but a corporate schmoozefest. The skills competition is totally uncreative and the game is embarrassing. I've played in shinny games with more hits.

  9. GMs across the NHL have to wonder what kind of plan Cliff Fletcher has to fix the problems in Toronto.

    Valued Assets
    1. Mats Sundin, center - #1 pick and young top six forward
    2. Tomas Kaberle, defenseman - #1 pick and young defenseman
    3. Nik Antropov, forward - 2nd/3rd line winger and 2nd/3rd round pick
    4. Alexei Ponikarovsky, forward - 2nd/3rd line winger and 3rd/4th round pick
    5. Alex Steen, forward - 2nd/3rd line winger and 2nd/3rd round pick
    6. Matt Stajan, forward - 2nd/3rd line winger and 3rd/4th round pick
    7. Chad Kilger, left-wing - 3rd/4th line winger and 3rd/4th round pick

    De-valued Assets
    1. Bryan McCabe, defenseman - 6/7 defenseman and 3rd/4th round pick
    2. Pavel Kubina, defenseman - 4/5 defenseman and 4th/5th round pick
    3. Hal Gill, defenseman - 5/6 defenseman and 4th/5th round pick
    4. Jason Blake, forward - 2nd/3rd line winger and 4th/5th round pick
    5. Darcy Tucker, forward - 3rd/4th line winger and 4th/5th round pick
    6. Andrew Raycroft, goaltender - backup/minor league goalie and 4th/5th round pick

Cliff Fletcher made a great point, this team must improve their base, which means they need to accumulate draft picks and young fast players with a chance to develop within a team base.

    Good luck Cliff.

Kovalchuk tossed in the first period at MSG for boarding. Rangers up 3-0 early in the second.

Where has this Rangers team been all season?

Blueshirts blank Atlanta 4-0. Jagr and Tyutin had three point games. Gomez tallied two points. Lundqvist turned away all 14 shots he faced.

For the first time all season, the Rangers lived up to the preseason hype.
