And poor Kris Beech didn't even have time to hang pictures in his Vancouver hotel room:

Kris Beech has been claimed off waivers by the Washington Capitals.

Beech was placed on waivers by the Canucks on Tuesday, less than two weeks after Vancouver picked him up off waivers from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Beech only played in four games for the Canucks, notching a goal and an assist.

The 26-year-old was originally drafted by the Capitals in the 1st round - 7th overall - of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

It looks as though Dan Boyle is going to make an appearence for the Lightning tomorrow against the Senators.

Word was he may have been able to go last night against Edmonton, but they want to play him Thursday so they can see how his wrist reacts to physical contact. He's been going through practice skates shooting and passing well, so the Bolts think he's ready.

That's a question I'd like an answer to as well.

I believe Boyle is a UFA. If the Lightning come to the conclusion that they're not going anywhere this season, do they trade him?

    Yeah, Beninati.

Emrick's pretty good but he needs to tone it down. I don't want to hear some PBP guy screaming for two and a half hours.

If anyone wants a laugh, they're showing the 1996 All-Star game on NHLN, complete with Fox's glowing puck!

I forgot how much I hated the glowing puck and stupid robots.

    One game for Kovalchuk ...

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=228033&hubname=

TORONTO - Ilya Kovalchuk's all-star break started one game early.

The Atlanta Thrashers star winger, second in the NHL with 37 goals, was suspended one game by the league Wednesday. He was disciplined for his hit from behind on New York Rangers defenceman Michal Rozsival late in the first period of a 4-0 loss at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

Kovalchuk received a five-minute boarding penalty on the play as well as a game misconduct. Rozsival's face smashed into the glass on the play but he came back to play the rest of the game.

After the game Kovalchuk tried to explain the hit. "I just tried to finish my check, and he kind of turned right before I tried to hit him," he said.

"He hit the boards; it wasn't my [intention] to hurt him or anything," added the 24-year-old. "It's a contact sport. I wasn't trying to kill anybody."

And apparently, someone is still very much in need of some anger management classes ...

There will be no further disciplinary sanctions against the Quebec Remparts organization following incidents which occurred during the third period of last Saturday's game against the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.

After reviewing the incidents, QMJHL Commissioner Gilles Courteau judged the game misconduct penalty handed to Remparts head coach Patrick Roy was enough under the circumstances.

Although the league disapproves of his actions toward referee Francis Charron and Sagueneens head coach Richard Martel, the rules stipulate that an automatic one-game suspension will only be given to an individual who has picked up four game misconducts. Moreover, similar cases have not resulted in additional sanctions.

Also, Courteau felt the frozen water bottle thrown by a spectator that hit the referee was a premeditated incident that was not related to the actions of Roy. An investigation is currently underway to identify the spectator.

Another sister-in-law to bang maybe? :D

NEWARK, N.J. - New Jersey Devils goaltender Marty Brodeur has some bad news for hockey fans and the Montreal Canadiens.

The fans voted Brodeur to the starting lineup for the Eastern Conference team in Sunday's NHL All-Star Game, but the veteran has begged off because he has to deal with some family matters.

Was the door to the dressing room left intact?

Marty's been in a long-term relationship with his former sister-in-law. I believe they live with each other in Jersey and vacation at his cottage in Quebec.
