These guys in the style competition have no moves at all.

The Ovechkin lacrosse/baseball-style shot was pretty creative. I would have loved to see what would have happened if he connected.

    I agree.

I made that post right before the final round started.

... then Ovechkin got the gist of the "rules" ...

This weekend was supposed to be Kovalchuk's national coming-out party. Through one night, he's been overshadowed by Ovechkin.

Cannot wait to see what Ovechkin has up his sleeve tomorrow night. And, as I posted earlier today, I would love to see a Kovalchuck-Malkin-Ovechkin line tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much, HB. It's not like anyone in Atlanta would notice if Kovalchuk was, you know, any good.

Jesus, that was 2 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Please, pull the plug on this joke.

    That's true.

NHL Network had an inadvertently depressing shot during its pre-skills competition coverage earlier today. One of the network's talking heads was in the media work room and there were only a handful of print reporters in the background, only three or four at a given time.

The league can't be real happy that Luongo and Brodeur backed out. As one story I read today said, "Think that would happen if the game was played in Montreal--as it will be next year."

Losing Martin Brodeur certainly dropped my interest. My goaltender isn't in it and Dominik Hasek is less than half the goalie he was, say, five years ago.

Then again, given that it's an All-Star Game, who's watching defense?

If Chara and Phaneuf each throw one good check on an opposing forward tomorrow, you can color me happy.

Just make sure Phaneuf leaves Eric Staal along - as long as he doesn't antagonize.
