Chris Osgood wishes he was back in Detroit. East up 5-1 in the first. Ovechkin has two goals.

Later on in the AP story, for all his bluster, Kelly said it was pretty much a sure thing. They just wanted to be in the loop.

Watched part of the first period.

    Yawn.

I know it's important for the NHL to hold a weekend that celebrates the sport and gets the word out that it is a great sport played by great athletes.

But surely they can do better than this game as the focal point of the weekend.

But hey, it was worth it to see our pal Elliotte interview Alyssa Milano.

Emrick just said Bettman's going to be in the booth during the third period. I'm sure that's going to be enthralling television.

    East wins 8-7.

The third period was actually pretty good. Once the West tied it up at 6-6, the competitive instincts kicked in. No hitting but some great end to end action.

Probably the best period of All Star hockey I've seen in years.

good for you what did you watch?
I watched about 5 minutes, I just can't get myself to watch this shit.
A contact sport is not meant to have an all star game

I know he's not that highly thought of in our parts of the world, Buck-Dub. And I don't even want to think of how much the Canadian teams and fans slam this guy every time they see him.

Gary Bettman is the anti Christ. He is vermin. In fact, he looks like a lesser known species of rodentia.

Dirty Dancing and Pretty In Pink! :D

What was Milano saying? Is she switching sports? Does she know Elliott has a girlfriend?

Brian Boucher (and Miikka Kiprusoff) sat at our table for the Flames 25th anniversary gala. When Ken King gave Bettman a glowing introduction, Boucher looked in my direction, rolled his eyes, whispered 'asshole' and stuck his finger down his throat.

It was everything I could do to not howl.

    That's pretty damn accurate.
