So ... Selanne is back ...

    Teemu Selanne is back.

The Finnish winger and the Anaheim Ducks have agreed to terms on a contract for the balance of this season and Selanne has re-joined the team.

"It took Teemu several months to determine if he had the passion and determination to return to the NHL, and we are thrilled to have him back," said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Brian Burke in a statement.

"This is a player who scored 48 goals last year and showed no signs of slowing down."

The Finnish Flash, Scott Niedermayer and Doug Weight. Burke's loading up for a Cup run.

Yeah, but there should rules against this kind of stuff ... deadlines and stuff ...

  4. If Selanne signed with another team, would they be receiving the same criticism as Anaheim? I'm glad the league has Feb 26th as some kind of deadline but during the lockout I was hoping for an early February date.

Bettman told Ron MacLean that "if it became a trend" they'd have to address it. Suspect that with Neidermayer and Selanne reupping just in time for a stretch run and an extended Cup run, it will become a trend. Those guys will be well rested for an extended run

Because it worked so well for Peter Forsberg, I suspect he accidentally started a trend. It's not that Niedermayer and Selanne desperately need the money, so playing half a season and being less worn down for a Cup run, I suppose, is preferable.

That's it, and in the meantime, Brian Burke gets the cap space he needs to bring in a steady defenceman in Mathieu Schneider, a top-six forward in Todd Bertuzzi, and a potential deadline acquisition. Though there is no smoking gun, these moves reek heavily of circumventing the cap.

If there's a way of circumventing the cap, Burke will find a way.

He didn't graduate from Harvard Law for nothin'

Emery needs to get a watch, or have a clue where practice is at.

He was at the morning skate today, but Gerber will start tonight against the Islanders.

A buddy of mine told me about Emery's latest stupidity.
He's never going to learn unless the Sens send him down or trade him to an team that has little media coverage. He's such an ass.

Where could they send him in the West? San Jose, so Nabakov can get more rest than he currently does?
