Running 2007 NHL regular season thread

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by hockeybeat, Sep 26, 2007.

  1. watching the Penguins take it to the Ducks in the third period, who in the NHL thought it was fair to make the schedule the way it is for Anaheim. They look tired, 5th game in 8 days and all the travel going to and from London compounds the scheduling joke.

looks like Gorgeous George's decision to lose 30 lbs during the offseason after embarrassing himself in the playoffs against Ottawa is paying off.

    No idea yet.

Bettman and the league need to do something about the high elbows. There are a lot of guys running around with their elbows up and sooner or later, someone is going to be seriously hurt.

Patrick Kane scores the lone goal in a shootout; Blackhawks come back from 3-1 deficit to beat Red Wings 4-3.

Flames are 0-2 to start ... they showed some signs of brilliance tonight (especially Lombardi!) ... but some real signs of stupidity.

I still object to this rule about a delay-of-game penalty for 'shooting' the puck of the glass. There needs to be an indication of intent.

That said, the Canucks scored three of four (excluding the winner in overtime) on the powerplay. For shame, Flames! Right back where you ended off last season, eh? Undisciplined and careless.

  5. Flash - Is the stupidity stemming from the way Keenan coaches or just a select few boneheads?

At this point, TH, I would say it's a hangover from last year -- the lack of discipline ran rampant in 2006-07. If anything, Keenan should be able to rein that in for a little while (until the players rebel his ways).

I'd like to see Huselius shoot more, as well.

Keenan didn't pull any punches on After Hours, calling out his veteran players.

Yes, it was only Florida, but Kevin Weekes did not suck while in goal for the Devils last night. Right now he's got more wins this season than Brodeur.

Of course, he did ... typical Keenan. I thought Iginla was ineffective quite a bit, particularly on the powerplay ... hella game from Langkow ... Lombardi has the opportunity to make this his team, if Iginla doesn't want to anymore ... am still liking Tanguay an awful lot, too.

The part that really gets me is ... on paper (and God, I hate this cliche), the Flames are one of the best defences in the league ... young, hard-nosed, smart, good breakout decisions ... but man, they just can't put it on the ice.

Oh ... and Adrian Aucoin sucks.

Brutal ... the Devils home page has the puck dropping in 20 days ... their marketing dept needs a kick in the teeth.
