I think that's for the home opener at the new arena.

They've got a nine-game road-trip to open the season while they apply the finishing touches.

I just noticed this treat for Monday: Two afternoon games!

    * Craps and Isles at 2 (both teams are 2-0-0)
    * Devils and Sens at 3 (could be interesting with Gerber, coming off of a shutout, against Brodeur)

It's official (Cox says so): Toskala is the Leafs #1 goalie.

Toskala, it now seems apparent, isn't a goalie version of Dmitri Khristich, the patron saint of colossal Leaf personnel misjudgements.

    and

Toskala didn't just give the Leafs a chance to win. He very much saved them from a third consecutive defeat and Chicken Little time in Leaf-land, giving up three goals to the hustling Habs in the opening 37 minutes and then slamming the door.

He wouldn't win any style points but he sure as hell made some good saves.

  4. Dear gawd, we're week 1 into the season and the media and fans in Toronto are acting like its Christmas.

Yes, teams need to start strong but this constant droning about every little minute detail is going to drive good players out of Toronto.

They have to have good players first, TH.

    Muahhahahahhahahha!

  6. Flash - The one guy who I wish would make that decision is Mats Sundin.

    Type.

Unless you live in Toronto, you don't know the absolute insanity about everything in Leafsland.

It is, literally, 24/7, twelve months of the year.

Some players love it, others wouldn't play here for all the tea in China.

Fans literally drove Larry Murphy out of town. Of course, he went on to win two Cups with Detroit.

The intelligent ones, yes. But for the most part, they aren't the ones calling in to the Buffalo sportstalk station...

Paul Stastny and the Avalanche are going beserk on San Jose.

6-1 in the third, Stastny has a goal, four assists.

Sakic also moved up on the all-time goals and points marks tonight, passing Bobby Hull in one category and Phil Esposito in another.

Stastny is stellar! Smooth like his old man ...

is the new arena going to be as empty as the old one, watching the most boring team in the history of hockey?
