Thank you William Houston. I thought that it was just me on Saturday but someone else agrees with my take:

    http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20071006.wspt-houston06/GSStory/GlobeSportsHockey/?page=rss&id=RTGAM.20071006.wspt-houston06

Right on the money about the pregame show. The most boring thing I ever saw. While the new set might be modernized, state of the art, it did not add anything to the show. I thought the interview MacLean did with Bob Gainey was okay, but it was too subdued. However, nice touch in the end when MacLean acknowledged Gainey's roller coaster year he had last year (with his daugther Laura, swept away at sea while on the Picton Castle)

The piece on Ferguson was good except some lack of details on how Ferguson Sr died and about the family medical issues. The thing is if some viewers are only watching this piece for the first time, they need to know more. Maybe time constraints factored into the reason as to why the piece did not explain the health issues or how Ferguson Sr died but as Houston said, if there is uncomfortableness with reporting the issues, then don't bother stating it at all, because you are leaving viewers with more unanswered questions. If the information was not public knowledge, then don't bother saying anything. I thought Ferguson Sr's battle with prostate cancer was public knowledge though

What bothered me about Ferguson Jr was his thoughts about questions about the rumours about the operations of the Leafs. I think he said in the interview something like, if people don't think people talk in Toronto about this, they are wrong. Basically nothing is confidential. From watching that clip he gives some aura that he is one smart cookie and no one can fool him. He claims that he never talked to Bowman, fine, but someone did, because would someone just out of the blue conjure up a story about Bowman wanting to come in and clean house? Maybe people needed him to hear just how badly he is really doing and this was the way to get his attention. If the team suffers early (which an overtime win does not really help the cause), Ferguson Jr is out the door and I say by November. An 1-18 powerplay is nothing to boast about either.

Scott Mellanby is a great addition and I liked his take on the Downie incident. Personally, Mellanby and MacLean were enough for the Hotstove. I could have done without Campbell, because he brought nothing to the conversation.

The combination of Hughson and Simpson by far were better than Cole and Millen. I am inclined to watch more of the second part of the doubleheaders on Saturday because there was just more umph! (I guess that is the way to say it).

After Hours is a must see because of Oake and Hrudey. Great job with Mike Keenan.

Just wanted to point out again that the Blackhawks beat the Red Wings on Saturday.

I'd be even more shocked if Lalime was in nets for the Blackhawks.

At the moment, he is still able to play for Leafs.

Indeed. It doesn't happen too often.

Also, Patrick Kane is the fucking truth. That is all.

Hooray for afternoon hockey. Isles-Capitals just got underway, Senators-Devils in an hour.
