Who becomes the front-runner? Giguere? Nabakov? Brodeur ... again?

I would think it has to be Nabakov. He's been great the entire season.

The GM of the Omsk Russian Super League franchise is supposed to be in New York this week to meet with Glen Sather about Alexei Cherepano playing for the Rangers next season.

But there's a interesting sidebar. During the lockout, Jagr played for Omsk and enjoyed his time there. And as a UFA come July, could the Rangers mercurial captain leave New York for Russia?

The gutless pukes aren't doing Team Ovechkin any favors today in Boston. Though they have been known to bang home three or four in a hurry, recently.

It's really tough for me to be anything other than a fanboy when it comes to the Pens. And while I may be waaaay off the mark, the only team that really scares me is Ottawa. Because, for whatever reason, it seems like the Senators absolutely own the Penguins.

The list of teams I'd just as soon the Pens not have to deal with goes: Senators, Rangers, Capitals.

Chasing the playoffs in the East:

All have four left to play
    7. Boston (90): at Buf, at NJ, at Ott, vs. Buf
    8. Philly (89): at NYI, at Pit, vs. NJ, vs. Pit
    9. Wash (86): at Fla, vs. Car, vs. TB, vs. Fla

Worth noting: I'm not sure anything less than seven points gets Washington in. I wonder if the Pens will play Crosby in the last regular-season game. And while there's a lot left to be decided, it looks like Washington would likely hold the first tiebreaker over Philadelphia, if it were to catch the Flyers (total wins).

FWIW, I continue to believe the Caps dug themselves too big a hole. We'll have a much better idea after the Flyers play the Islanders and the Caps play the Panthers tonight, though, IMO.

Holy bad blood! Look at the possible first-round playoff matchups in the East:

    1-8: Montreal vs. Boston
    2-7: Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia
4-5: New Jersey vs. N.Y. Rangers

Our man Elliotte just had an interesting interview with Richard Peddie of MLSE on HNIC.
