USA Today picked the Pens. And John Buccigross picked the Pens. And every single talking head/column I've read (and can remember) has picked the Rangers to win the East.

    I'll take that.

Kinda funny about the Leafs, though. I have a funny feeling that may be happening at the 'Dome soon.

I still think Bates Battaglia has the best hockey name since Zarley Zalapski. And it isn't even about the alliteration.

Ethan Moreau is my favourite. Sounds like he should be a character in a Henry James novel.

Given that the Leafs got caned, I'm glad I went to see Verdi's Don Carlos. All FOUR HOURS and fifteen minutes of it. It was a fucking marathon but worth every penny.

The ACC and the new Opera House are just a couple of blocks away from each other. I was going to see before the game whether I could swap two opera tickets for two hockey tickets. HC didn't think that would probably work. :)

No way Bates is ahead of either Radek Bonk or Keith Tkachuk. No way. :)

The women in Raleigh couldn't have cared less about Bates' name when he was with the Whalercanes. Let's just say his poster could have outsold all women's magazines combined in the Triangle during his stay.

What an impressive victory by the Canes against the Leafs. And it could have been a lot worse than 7-1. Carolina led 2-1 after one period and had enough excellent chances to be up 5-1.

I'm guessing that Mo's hot seat is getting hotter.

Saw a Ryan Smyth interview a couple nights ago. Smiling his toothless smile while his nose was set off to the right.

That's a hockey player for ya!
