Kozlove drove in with the puck and left it kind of loose around the net. But replays showed that Ovechkin's stick hit it, which caused it to deflect off a defenseman's skate and into the net. Kozlove simply left it kind of loose around the crease.

Lecavalier has spent more time in the penalty box than the ice lately. He did the same thing at the ESA on Wednesday night.

If Ottawa is the swan-diving mystery as a team, Lecavalier gets the individual version.

Ondeadline, the talk-show idiots in North Carolina really screamed conspiracy theory? Then again, this is the same bunch of brilliant people who labeled Cam Ward a one-game wonder for his season-opening shootout win against Pittsburgh more than two years ago.

On the postgame radio show on 99.9 on Tuesday night, Mike Maniscalco was suggesting that.

After Mike Solarte, it goes downhill in a hurry in sports-talk radio.

At my last market in South Carolina, it was even worse - about four notches beyond embarrassing.

He's had an non-existent second half, of which I'm not sure how much his team's lack of play plays a role, but I'd take Lecavalier on my team any day. After Ovie, of course.

Good stat for Capitals fans with the game tied 1-1 after two periods. The Lightning have a -39 goal differential in the third period, having given up 113 in the last stanza so far this season.

Tampa's goalie has been outstanding tonight. He's already got 28 saves, some of them damn amazing.

Announcers were talking about LeCavalier having a bum wrist again these days, which may be hampering him. Hasn't mattered much so far. This game has been up and down so fast, with lots of good scoring opportunities for both sides. More for the Caps though, but this Finnish goalie, Rohmo or something, has been great. This may be a 2-1, or 3-1 with an empty netter, final.

The Caps did get unlucky in that they are having to face Ramo, who has been hot, and the Canes faced Smith, who has struggled.

Smith is an adventure. Trots is going to strangle him one night.

Is this the same guy Tampa just had to have at the trade deadline?

Ramo has been VERY good tonight.

It's just Ovechkin is better. :)
