I would just like to take this opportunity to say: Fuck the St. Louis Blues with a broken broomstick.

To me, that's why teams have nuclear deterrents like Brashear and Orr and the other top fighters in the game. Those guys guarantee that any potential ugliness will minimal, at best.

The only reason there was ugliness tonight was that Torts and the Lightning weren't interested in playing hockey after Oveckin scored the game winner.

Here's how the Raleigh paper's blog analyzes the Canes chances should they lose Friday and the Caps win Saturday:

Well the Leafs choke, again. With a chance to really hurt the Sens' playoff hopes they were dominated on home ice. However, if Boston beats Ottawa, the Pens beat the Flyers, and the Caps beat the Panthers, the Sens will miss the playoffs and the Caps would be in.

Pens vs. Caps first round, who wins?

Ottawa wins, but loses both Alfredsson & Fisher, both potentially long-term, according to Bryan Murray. That's a disaster because they are the two most important stand-up guys on that team.

Watched the end of the Tampa game. That's unusual for Tortorella. Wonder if something happened earlier that ticked him off.

Sorry to interupt the Caps lovefest, but word from the other conference has reached SportsJournalists.com that, yes, the Minnesota Wild is your Northwest Division champion.

    Sorry, Flash.

It's also the guy who was in his first game back from a left knee injury last night. Ramo's playing light's out because Torts said publically he was thinking of sending him to Norfolk for a full season so he could play 60 games next season.

Understandably, it's lit a little bit of a fire under him the last couple of games.

I suppose this wouldn't be the time to revel in the Wild's very first-ever division title, another bit of salve in the horrid, gaping wound the ripping away of the North Stars left for Minnesota hockey fans, eight years into the Wild's young existence....

    Oh.

I know. Just wait till the playoffs.

If Quebec hadn't successfully intimidated the 95 Rangers, Philly certainly did the job during the next round.
