On a side note that 94 final has to be one of the best Stanley Cup finals in history. No trapping and a game 7 that was a Nathan Lafayette crossbar with about 6 minutes left from going to OT.

I believe that is the highest-rated NHL game in Hockey Night In Canada history. (The 2002 Gold Medal Olympic game is higher, from what I understand.)

Kevin Lowe has said that if there wasn't an extra day off between Games 6 & 7, the Rangers would have lost.

Nathan Lafayette's crossbar shot caused every Rangers fan to suffer simultaneous heart attacks.

When Neil Smith traded for Lafayette, he was asked what he liked about the former Canuck. His response was, "That he hit the crossbar."

    That's a great line.

  6. I never said there was a conspiracy. I just think the NHL and TV networks really want Washington because of Ovechkin. I'm just joking about the league actually doing what David Stern has done for years in the NBA.

How is Ovechkin the MVP with his team barely into the playoffs in a horrible division? I know I've gone on record here saying Malkin is the man for me but what about the performances of Joe Thornton and Jarome Iginla. Let's not forget the early season performance by Ovechkin and his Caps that got Glen Hanlon his walking papers.

I was just watching Game 7 of the Canes-Oilers on NHL Network HD and that felt good to watch after last night's debacle.

I still can't bring myself to watch it. it has been replayed on the network a few times, and each time my heart sinks and I have to switch the channel.

I've lost count how many times I've watched the end of that game off of the DVD. Obviously, as much as it makes your heart sick, it brings quite the opposite reaction from me. It was a hell of an exciting game.

This afternoon's Ducks-Kings game was Mick McGeough's last as a NHL ref.
