Interesting: There's a college-football game in Pittsburgh tonight, but first-year Steelers coach Mike Tomlin chooses to take in the Pens-Habs game.

Sounds like I'm going to looooove watching this Pens-Habs disaster on the DVR later.

OK, minor thread jack, but here goes:

Without being able to watch my beloved Gophers this fall, I need to adopt an NHL team.

My commitment will be for one season only. Ruled out are any team that traps and the Dallas Stars -- for obvious reasons.

NHL fans, who should I adopt? Make your case for your team or simply point out a fun team to follow. I'm completely open.

    Pittsburgh Maple Leafs.

    The Long Island Trappers.

The last five minutes of the third, the Rangers couldn't get the puck out of their defensive zone.

In all seriousness, once the Rangers remove their heads from their asses, they'll be an enjoyable team to watch.

Hawks- young talent and renewed interest in the team following Dollar Bill's passing.

Any Canadian team, since Canada's cool, in general, and they support their NHL teams.

The Maple Leafs are under consideration, provided they do not send Johnny Pohl down.

The Rangers could be fun, as could be the Hawks.

I don't think I can do Pittsburgh, much as I enjoyed watching them last year.

Bad memories of what Mario and company did to poor Jon Casey and the Real Stars.

As much as it pains me to say it...the Flyers are fun to watch.

Not Toronto. It's almost a national embarrassment.

Zeke, Pohl's lucky to get three minutes of icetime.

    Hmm.

    God, strike me down: Ottawa.

    Best team in the East.

    Fuck the Flyers.

    With a two-by-four.

You should be sent to re-education camp, HB.

    I agree. Hopefully it's in Toronto...;D

I caught Gagne and Briere on opening night, skating up-down-and-through the Flames. I had to admit, through clenched teeth, that they looked pretty darn good.

Did you hear that it's no longer Daniel Briere? It's Danny now. Not sure why. Maybe it's just his Flyer persona.
