100% agree, the best fights are the Tochett, Neely's, Wendel Clark type fights. Players tough as nails but could damn well play the game.

    Exactly. It's silliness.

The fights that we're seeing these days--with certain exceptions (Shanahan-Brashear comes to mind)--are just to satisfy blood lust. Two lugs dropping the mitts and punching each other for no real reason.

Give me Messier vs. Clark or Tochett vs. Neely, thank you much.

Colton Orr's not a nobody to me. :( I've seen him score some damn nice goals. Now mind you, he doesn't have the softest hands but at the same time, I wouldn't put him on the same stage as Boulerice and Downie.

Maybe I'm wrong. But with the Rangers, Orr's stuck on the fourth line, getting maybe 10 minutes a game, tops. And he has to drop the mitts whenever someone goes after Jags and the rest of the stars.

I hope he can develop into a decent power forward.

My point is there are few good fights that are come about naturally. I guess the last good one I can remember was Iginila-Lecaviler in the '04 Cup Finals. There was real emotion.

Oh, those disciplined Craps: They waited five whole seconds to go to the box.

Ninety seconds in: Washington already is down 1-0 and hasn't gotten he puck into the Rangers' end.

I think the salaries do count against the cap and the players are part of the 23-man roster. That's why the Flyers have played three games but Downie has only served two so far. They recalled him for the first two games, but then signed Rory Fitzpatrick so they didn't "call up" Downie to serve a game against the Canucks.

Fitzpatrick is a pretty good defensive defenseman.
