The Sabres re-signed Teppo to a 1-year, $2.6 million deal before he went in for his checkup. According to this week's Hockey News, Buffalo's payroll is $46.1 million and they have $4.2 million in the coffers.

If the Sabres did the right thing and paid Teppo while he's recovering, they would be $1.6 million under the cap ($48.7 million), more than enough room to if they wanted to make a trade or sign a FA off the street.

Who should get the C? Phaneuf?

I would love to hear Keenan's presser. I'm convinced that his head will literally explode after this game.

Iginla just took his third penalty of the game ... who does he think he is, Godard? Fuck sake. It's not a bad game for him, considering he has two goals but is the penalty box where you want your leader? Ah no ...

And love, love, looooooooooooooooove the two goals they've scored on themselves. That's awesome.

I'm not arguing for labor strife. You're right, the league needs the media and fans to pay attention to the on-ice product and the personalities.

My point is that the players have never had a Executive Director that has had their best interests in mind. Now, with Kelly, I think they have some leverage the next time the League and PA hammer out a CBA.

I've been flipping between this game and the Red Sox-Indians. This is the type of game that's going to cause Keenan to absolutely torture the Flames tomorrow.

Oh, they've flashed ( :D )to the bench a couple of times and he does NOT look pleased.

And the C? No, to Phaneuf. Still too young. I could see any one of Yelle, Regehr, Warrener or Conroy.

Ooh. Forgot about Regehr. He'd be a heck of a choice.

I guess, though, if Keenan strips Iginla of the 'C,' the Flames would be forced to trade him.

    Flash:

Avs announcers are all but calling Mick McGough a blithering idiot after he called Sauer for holding-the-stick.

That's when you know it's hockey season! When people are bitching about Mickles!

They had one in Goodenow. The players became extremely wealthy under him.

But when push came to shove, the players lost with Goodenow. Two lockouts that killed any momentum the league had. Goodenow was more interested in proving he had a bigger johnson than Bettman. Except Bettman had full support of the Board of Governors and the players weren't unified with Goodenow.

I think that Keenan will go first.

I like Mr. Magoo ... he's one of the more consistent guys out there.
