I think the SPHL would be embarrassed to have this crew.

On a slightly more positive note, the Devs seem to be taking to Brent Sutter's forechecking game.

As Gord Miller said on TSN, "This isn't your father's New Jersey Devils".

Was Gord e-mailing Bill Daly as he said it? :D

Devs up 5-4 with 2:40 remaining.

Every now and then, I can pot the odd goal.

These Devils certainly are more entertaining to watch than the old trapping teams.

I do like that Thane Burnett... good, descriptive writing.

Probably not, but did anyone else notice TSN's backtrack on showing Lamoriello and Walkom sitting together? Pretty frank apology. Maybe Miller's friends at head office got a little upset.

Just watching the highlights ... how in hell did they allow that fourth Devils goal? Wow.

The Devils -- starting the season with a nine-game road trip til the new arena opens a week from Saturdaya, with a new coach, a new system and without some of their top players from past seasons -- are 3-3.

The Rangers, who made all the big off-season moves and to whom hockeybeat already has awarded the Stanley Cup, are 2-3.

    Just saying.

It's six games in, but I'll take a 3-3 start for the Devils. Looking forward to the next arena visit I'll do later this season.
