If that were the case, he'd still be in Vancouver with three or four rings.

How many times did the Canucks make the playoffs while he was there? How many division titles?

He's loud and crotchety, but he wins.

    Stanley Cups in Vancouver?

None, but he got to a Finals.

But no Stanley Cup victories in Vancouver. And that's what makes a coach/GM a winner. Otherwise, Scotty's nine would be no big deal.

When? I recall Pat Quinn bringing the team to the finals in 1994, while Burke was with the league after a short stint in Hartford. The only finals he's been to as a general manager was last year with the Ducks - and he certainly had help there.

He never got to a finals in Vancouver, but he did one hell of a job turning around an organization that was in complete turmoil. He did not get let go because of the teams he built he got let go because he could not get a long with the CEO Stan Mccammon. He may be a blowhard but how many other GM's would you take over him

    Here's a new one:

Stop me if you've heard it before ...

Athlete gets caught saying something stupid, blames it on the media:

"Everybody knows nothing is going on and everything is good between me and Carbo," Kovalev told reporters. "It's just you guys try to have a competition between each other and try to twist words, who twisted words better."

Kovalev continued saying that he will be much more careful in the future dealing with the media.

"From now on I'm just going to say no, yes, of course, whatever and see if you guys can twist these words and I have nothing more to say about it anymore."

As do I. I guess it died yesterday. I signed in and it wasn't there. I tried refreshing, copy-and-pasting the URL in and it didn't work.

So I went to No. 9, my favorite athlete of all time, Adam Graves.
