Tough to have a groin injury when you don't have balls...

Methinks I wouldn't want to be Exelby the next time the Thrashers and Rangers play.

I got this in my e-mail:

Yeah, that's a good call, making sure that the games don't go head-to-head. Maybe three people in Boston might care about the Bruins.

    The Real McCabe:

McCabe's contract is a direct result of the view held by most NHL general managers that talent is in short supply. And the apparent talent shortage in the NHL is, I believe, directly related to the inability of most teams to fully assess the impact of players on their team's performance.

What does the performance of a top-tier defender look like?

I took a look at the 22 defencemen who currently earn north of $4-million per annum. The average salary cap hit of this group is about $5.6-million, not far from McCabe's number. At the top end of this list was Nicklas Lidstrom ($7.6-million). Three players have a cap consequence of $4.25- million including McCabe's teammate, Tomas Kaberle.

    And Antropov is happy:

TORONTO - Nik Antropov was tied for sixth in points and second in NHL goals as he frolicked in practice with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday morning.

His sixth goal in eight games was the winner in a 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night, and it bumped his points total to 11.

Yet, when his fabulous start was brought up as he pulled off the pads, he shrugged it off as if it were irrelevant.

"As long as it's going in, I'm happy, you know what I mean?" he said. "I've said so many times: I'm not a statistics guy.

"As long as the team is doing good, I'm happy."

Financially, it certainly does not suck to be Mario Lemieux. He'll get $21 million as a result of refinancing the Penguins' debt.

I'd hardly characterize 3-3-2 as ''good."

Kovalev. Million dollar talent. Ten-cent head.

The only coach that ever got to him was Keenan because he feared Keenan. Now he allegedly wants to be reunited with Mike?

Good luck, Kovy. If you had one-tenth of Ovechkin's desire, you'd be the best player in the game.

Which means Calgary would be a happy home for him ... he would be among like-minded underachievers.

He was owed over 30 million. He deffered his salary when the Pens were in trouble. I believe he is the only crediter not to recive 100% of what was owed to them
