We spent a bit of time talking about Christensen last night. As a junior, he was very under-rated. He was often lost among the 'stars,' or at least the guys who carried themselves that way. Unfortunately, their egos often got in the way of their hockey-playing abilities and 'Crush' was forced to muddle his way on very crappy teams. When several of those personalities graduated from junior, he won the league scoring title -- quietly, thoughtfully, and skilfully ... the same way he conducts an interview. If you do get a chance to interview this young man, I wholeheartedly encourage it.

His teammate, a projected top-10, was set up to call me from Toronto on NHL draft day. He did not. I finally got a hold of him on the Sunday and was rebuffed for an interview.

Crush saved my bacon. He did not go to Toronto, choosing instead to stay at home with his family and wait for the call. When I called him, he was happy to hear from me and thrilled to give me an interview, especially so his girlfriend's parents could clip it and send it to him.

It's guys like that who make the job meaningful.

That's not a new thing. Wings and Blackhawks hae done that each of the last two seasons.

I think there was someone else that did it too.

It's completely stupid, but then that's the NHL lately.

Travis Roy is at the Rangers-Bruins game. He dropped a ceremonial first puck and is being interviewed by MSG-TV now. It's been 11 years since his accident.

In less significant matters, the game is scoreless after two.

The dreaded scoreless tie. Which goalie really stood on his head today HB?

Both were pretty good. Lundqvist made an unreal save on Savard early in the game.

There wasn't a lot of room to maneuver and the ice was pretty terrible. It was a tight checking game. Kessel scored the only goal in the shootout as Boston won 1-0.

Jeebus, are the Rangers still trying to figure things out with all that talent?

TV feature. It might be on CBC.ca. Hold on.

    EDIT:

CBC hasn't uploaded it yet, but click on the link (left hand side) under Hockey Night In Canada that reads "Inside Hockey." It should be up tomorrow. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/

CBC had a great shot of an awed Towes scanning the ACC while both national anthems were being sung.

T_D, I'm not really concerned. It's only been seven games. If it was the seventieth game of the season, then it's a problem. They're getting shots and they're working hard.

The wins will start coming. Soon.

Jason Williams with a PPG for the 'Hawks. Kane and Toews with assists.

'Hawks up 1-0 in a Battle of Original Six franchises.
