I like what the Avs did in the off-season, adding Smyth and Hannan. Certainly, they're a more explosive team offensively.

Mikko Koviu jams the puck past Budaji with less than three minutes remaining in the third. Rosie's NHL Team 3, Avs 2.

Bruins have told the Vancouver Giants they're keeping Milan Lucic. Donnie Hay is fine with it but that likely means the Giants won't challenge the Hitmen for the WHL title this season.

VANCOUVER - Milan Lucic is staying with the Boston Bruins, and Vancouver Giants coach Don Hay is fine with that.

The Bruins have informed the Giants they will keep Lucic, the Western Hockey League star named most valuable player in last spring's Memorial Cup tournament, beyond the NHL's nine-game deadline for teenagers to be sent back to junior teams.

The Bruins could return the 19-year-old winger to the Giants at a later date.

"If he's helping Boston win, then he should stay with the Bruins," Hay said Sunday.

The Giants aren't the only one who could be denied Lucic's services. He's considered a prime prospect for Canada's entry at the world junior tournament, which will be held Pardubice and Liberec in the Czech Republic from Dec. 23-Jan. 6.

Lucic has played pretty well for the B's. He had a scrap a couple games ago, and he more than held his own.

Never got to see him play junior. Didn't see any Giants games last season ... and the imports usually only stick around for a season or so.

Burnsie's a good man and a good coach. But can he get Kovalchuk to play team hockey? In all three zones?

You mean that the Oilers players ain't satisfied with Mac-T? Shocking. :D

So, who plays with Jags? Drury and Gomez have been struggling to mesh with No. 68. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10222007/sports/rangers/research_center.htm

Lucic, despite his name, is a Canadian. Born in Vancouver.
