Every year, I forget how quickly trades can happen.

Darrell Arther was picked by the Hornets, then traded to the Blazers, Rockets and finally the Grizzlies.

And apparently Darnell Jackson (Heat) and Sasha Kaun (Sonics) have been traded to the Cavs. So all five Jayhawks have been drafted and traded tonight.

    Amazing.

Wow...that is an insane statistic. Has to be the first time five teammates have been drafted and traded, no?

Not sure, it might be. I was stunned to see Arthur had been traded twice some time between leaving work and logging on to the laptop at home.

I'm still stunned the Celtics took Giddens, who was misguided, to say the least, during his two years at KU. The kid might have straightened himself out at New Mexico, but when that pick came up, I was so hoping the Celtics would take Chalmers. His defense would have fit nicely in Boston. As it is, Miami's a good fit, too.

I was also stunned that Chalmers lasted that long. He would be a great fit in Boston, or even with many other teams who passed him over for lesser talents. I have to think there's something there that we don't know about.

Holy christ, he looks like a Brylcreem-lathered version of Robert Blake before he greased Bonnie Bakley.

Portland did a very nice job getting Bayliss and adding a low post player in Diogu. I see them coming together as a team and contending very soon if Oden gets healthy.

I was just reading David Moore's story on this, and the way it plays out is hilarious.

Arthur, of course, is drafted by New Orleans. Before he leaves Madison Square Garden, he's a member of the Portland Trail Blazers.

By the time he gets back to his hotel room in Manhattan, he's with the Memphis Grizzlies. And somewhere during his drive back, he had been a member of the Houston Rockets.

Wonder if he had any Rockets jerseys available for the drive.

I thought San Antonio should have picked Chalmers. Might as well if they're gonna take some guy from IUPUI.

Memphis might not win 15 games next year.

They're going to be really awful.

With Mayo and Arthur, at least they have some pieces to build around now. They won't be that bad. Bad, but not that bad.

How many teams built exclusively around 20-year-olds have done well in the NBA? You have Conley, Mayo and Arthur. Perhaps it's a good future, but the present will be fucking awful.

I just think Chalmers isn't that good of a pro prospect. I think there are sincere doubts he can adjust to point guard (which he only sporadically played at KU) ... and he isn't big enough to be a shooting guard.

He's a nice second rounder for the Heat.

But I actually think the guy the Spurs got there is going to be really good for them. Not an all-star by any means, but a solid backup.
