I'm just glad we have Versus here, because if we didn't, I would have gone crazy not seeing this Penguins run. Growing up in Kansas City, I didn't see a live second of the '91 and '92 runs, because we didn't get Sportschannel there. So I stayed up to watch SportsCenter each night to see what happened.

I'm in luck this time. Not only do we have Versus, but I happen to have off Saturday, Monday and Wednesday -- Games 1, 2 and 3.

This ought to be a fun series.

 

The question always come up: how do the Wings manage to find these guys in the late rounds.

It's not so much finding them but they develop them and don't rush them into the NHL.

I think it was Holland who said in an interview that when they draft a European, they don't consider bringing him over until he can make his country's national team.

 

The answer is: Hakan Andersson, director of European scouting. With a big nod to Jim Nill.

Since I missed my chance Sunday, that was a hell of a lot of fun watching the Penguins blow the Flyers out to put the series away.

Oz, I saw every single minute of both Stanley Cup runs by the Penguins, but I'll probably miss most of this one (damn Versus).

 

Fitting since the Pens are in the Cup Final.
