You may have the distinction of being the only American watching the Memorial Cup.

    Congrats. :)

Oh, please. There's five people in Spokane watching the Chiefs tonight, too. :D

And you know what's really hilarious about this? Sixteen-year-olds trying to grow playoff beards. ;D

    2Much,
I guess you know the best game of the tourney (except for the championship game) is tomorrow night: Kitchener and Belleville.

The Kitchener coach said something along the lines of, "We're not gonna have to watch any tape".

    Should be beaucoup de fun.

Yeah, you mentioned that. (But you called Kitchener "London" one page ago. :D )

And it should be a much better game than anything in the NHL conference finals last week. Probably better than the championship game Sunday.

This is vis a vis of nothing, but I feel like sharing it.

One day last week, I was running errands. Since it wasn't a work day, I was wearing a Winnipeg Jets t-shirt and jeans. Some guy walked up to me and asked, "Did the Jets get Pac Man?"

    Um, what?

"Dude, you know. The Jets. Did they get Pac Man Jones."

Winnipeg Jets get Pac Man Jones? People have no respect.

The Chiefs have a tremendous following. Until Calgary set the single-game attendance record during the lockout season (not sure if it's been broken), the Chiefs held it.

They have great fan appreciation nights (good marketing folks!) and rarely put a garbage team out on the ice (though they've had their moments).

Some great alumni out of Spokane as well ... Kurt Sauer, Val Bure, Brandin Cote, Pat Falloon, Brent Gilchrist, Bryan McCabe (hi, JR!), Ray Whitney, Jason LaBarbera ... some of whom I did have the privilege to watch. ;)

Oh ... and the 2008 Stanley Cup champion head coach honed his bench skills in Spokane. ;)

    Mr Coffeeman,

    Re 16-year-olds

Years back I did a story about a 16-year-old phenom named Adam Colagiacomo (SP). Played for the London Knights, who were awful at the time. Anyways, after the game, I went down to the dressing room -- this kid at 16 had a thicker beard than I could ever grow. There was hair sprouting out his sweater--above his name. I'm pretty sure that he actually was in the first stages of male pattern baldness. In his civvies, with his teenage team-mates, he looked like somebody's father. He could have grown a legit playoff beard if he shaved after every round. Too bad he didn't make it.

    I grew a lock-out beard.

    YD&OHS, etc

Regardless of what happens in the Final, Babcock is clearly the best coach in the league right now and it's not even close.
