I think if they get one early it will loosen them up, they look like they are playing so tight.

I would love to see them win the next two at the igloo.

JC---from your lips to God's ears.

I'd be thrilled with one goal, let alone a win. I'm sure the crowd will come into play tonight, coupled with the 3-4,000 fans outside the arena.

Abandon the dump and chase and rush headlong at the Detroit D ... that might give them a fighting chance.

Weak column. If Mario were inconsistent about interviews through the playoffs, that would be one thing. But he's kept quiet the past two months, so this isn't just because it's "convenient" not to talk about the Penguins being in an 0-2 hole. Mario is no Steinbrenner -- he doesn't feel a need to comment all the time.

I'll say it: I don't think Pittsburgh would win once if they played Detroit 100 times.

    From AP today:

The Detroit Red Wings’ second victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins earned a higher television rating on Versus than the opener and was the most-watched Stanley Cup finals cable telecast in six years.

Detroit’s 3-0 win on Monday night, its second straight shutout in the series, earned a 1.9 national rating and averaged over 2.5 million viewers. Game 1, a 4-0 win by the Red Wings, garnered a 1.8 rating.

The latest mark was the best for an NHL game on Versus, topping the series opener, and was second to Lance Armstrong’s final ride in the 2005 Tour de France for the highest-rated telecast in the network’s history (2.1).

The combination of Games 1 and 2 made this the highest-rated and most-watched opening two games of the finals since Detroit faced Carolina in 2002. Versus’ combined ratings went up 273 percent from last year when Anaheim played Ottawa and 181 percent from the Carolina-Edmonton matchup in 2006.

If Versus can get this rating (still weak, but great news for a network that struggles and is ridiculed and SHOULD have a game on more than one night a week duiring the regular season), will NBC fare equally or better for it being a hockey games played on a network everyone has?

I'll say it: That joins the shortlist of stupidest things ever written at this site.

Pittsburgh scores first tonight and they have a chance to win this game.

Detroit scores first tonight and it will suck the wind out of any Mellon momentum.

Love Scotty Bowman and all but one ceremonial puck drop per series, thank you.

You know, do you think the Penguin faithful needed a shirt to wear tonight?

I'll bet 2/3rds of these puckers had to choose which game authentic jersey to wear tonight, and once they choose to go with the 66, they are handed a $9 t-shirt to wear.
